KYTA

A TRAVEL AND ART EXPERIMENT

PROGRAMS / APPLY

Since its inception in 2014, KYTA's participants have been curated and invited through the private networks of the project's directors, co-curators as well as recommendations from past participants and team members. While the annual group residency continues to be managed with this approach, we now have open calls for self-directed experimental practitioners and site-specific project residencies as well as custom-made group programs hosted in both our locations, around the year.

These programs are entirely modular so applicants can construct their residency experience based on their concept, plan and resources. Based on the proposal, KYTA will offer consultancy, on-site facilitation (travel, accommodation, food, tools and materials), local guides, coaches and connections, and relevant opportunities for showcasing in India.

KYTA can also connect applicants with our artist network as well as local artisans to create custom collaborations.

Note: The winters (Nov-Mar) are usually harsh with austere living conditions, predictable lack of company and unpredictable electricity, but this season also offers an incredible environment for reflection and unhindered focus.

All meals can be arranged by the kitchen team.

SUNSET CAFE

residency SPACE, kalga

Sunset Cafe is the oldest building in Kalga made with local Himachali wood and stone. It is also one of the few buildings that have survived modernisation within its original structure. The property has 10 private cabins and a cafe surrounded by apple orchards.

Sunset Cafe has served as the venue of KYTA's annual residencies in Kalga (2014-18). It continues to house our facilities for clay, sound and an AI think-tank hidden in the attic.

Sunset Cafe is open through the year and is ideal for individuals, collectives or groups.
